I started working with pianos in 1975 as an apprentice with Alfred Knight Pianos, learning how to build new pianos; during that time I attended The London College of Furniture (Now the Guildhall University) where I achieved City and Guilds qualifications in Musical Instrument Technology.

In 1984 I joined the London Borough of Newham where I was employed as piano technician with responsibility for maintaining more than 300 school pianos. As the average age of the pianos was over 40 years, this gave me an excellent grounding in almost any type of repair that a piano restorer could expect to face.

Having had the experience of working with both new and old stock I decided to put this knowledge to its best use by becoming self employed in 1996.

In 2000 I decided to move my business to East Sussex, and moved with my wife and 6-month-old daughter to Hastings where, with the addition of a son, my family and my business are both growing.
